I picked this one up off eBay for cheap, mostly because the rig I already built for my TRV8 carries straight over to it. Same DVR, same cable, same mounts, same batteries, so the only thing I actually had to buy was the camcorder itself.

Hi8 is the messier format. It’s grainier, softer, and leans way harder into that late 90s home video look than Digital8 does, which is exactly why I wanted one. Add in the fact that it’s recording to a card instead of tape and you’ve got a pretty painless way to shoot analog. Excited to see what this thing can do.
